THE OPPORTUNITY TO ‘REINVENT’ AT THIS YEAR’S AIGS HOSTED BUSINESS FORUM

During the recently held PUG Challenge South Africa, AIGS offered business leaders and owners amongst its partner base the opportunity to 'reinvent' themselves. Held alongside the more technical sessions, the AIGS hosted Business Forum provided those responsible for driving business strategy the opportunity to share and brainstorm common issues whilst networking with like-minded peers.

The day kicked off with an introduction and welcome address by Rick Parry, Chairman and CEO of AIGS, in which he outlined the objectives behind the day's proceedings. "As business leaders, it can sometimes be a lonely road," says Parry. "Our goal is for the Business Forum, and future events similar to this, to provide a gathering where senior leaders can share real world problems, learning from each other whilst finding commonality."

Presentations included an address by Trisha O'Rourke, EMEA Distributor Account Manager for Progress with responsibility for the AIGS account and local community, in which she outlined the value to be found in partnering with both Progress and AIGS. Richard Firth, MIP, went on to share with attendees the importance of socialising business systems, thereby placing them within easy reach. "We live in a rapidly changing world," says Firth. "As business leaders, we need to be constantly open to leveraging new, and relevant, technology in order to stay current, thereby ensuring our continued survival."

Additional presentations included an address by renowned journalist, Toby Shapshak, in which he discussed exactly how Microsoft succeeded in overtaking Apple as the world's most fabulous company, and the lessons to be learnt. This was followed by Moeti Senauoa and Lloyd Griessel of Kaap Agri and Mozaic Software, who ended off the day sharing examples of leveraging Progress technology.

"It doesn't matter how big or small a company is," continues Firth. "It is always reassuring to hear that other CEOs or owners suffer from exactly the same issues. A hugely valuable and must attend event! That we have potentially landed a deal from the day's networking, is simply the cherry on the top."

"Our partners are the backbone of our business," says Parry. "We are committed to working with them, adding value at every possible opportunity whilst simultaneously building and cementing the local community."
